In the very beginning, there was no sky and no sea. No sun, no moon, no tiny stars at all. Only soft darkness everywhere, like a quiet blanket.
But God was already there. God is always everywhere, and inside the quiet, a happy secret was waiting. Something wonderful was about to begin.
Then God spoke. His voice was warm, and it was huge. “Light!” He said. And light came, golden and glowy, spilling across the dark like honey.
God smiled at the golden light. “This is good,” God said. “Tomorrow, I will make even more.” On the second day, God scooped the waters apart and made the wide blue sky. Soft clouds drifted through that new blue sky, and the air felt cool and light. There was room now for birds to fly.
Day by day the world grew. God made the land, the plants, and every fruit-bearing tree. Then God hung the sun and moon and stars—the moon like a silver button, the stars like tiny candles in a giant dark room. God filled the waters with fish and whales, and the sky with birds who sang happy songs.
And then God made people—a man and a woman, made to love and be loved, made to care for everything God had made. God looked at the whole wide world. Everything was good. “This is my good world,” God said, “and it is made with love.”
Lesson: You were made on purpose, and the God who made the whole world is so glad you are here.
